Finally A Post About the Big Day!

Sorry for the long delay...it has been a busy few weeks so I am just now getting around to posting about Lillee's birthday! Hopefully I can get thru with this before she wakes up to eat!!

So on April 15th I went in to the hospital at 6:00am to be induced shortly after. However, that day everyone decided to go into labor or be induced and so all of the rooms were full and it was right at shift change for the nursing staff. Therefore I was made to lay in my delivery room and wait for my turn. It was pure torture! My nerves were already off the charts and then I ended up having to wait until about 8:15 for them to even come in and get my IV started so they could begin the Pitocin drip. Shortly after the IV was started, Dr. Locke came in and broke my water and checked me for progress. At this point I was around a 2 and still had quite a ways to go! As the day went on I begin to have stronger contractions and at about 11:00am I received my first epidural which ended up only taking affect on my left side...after trying to adjust it several times, the anesthesiologist said the best thing would be to redo the whole thing. I agreed to do so and was glad that I did because shortly after both of my legs were completely numb and I no longer could feel contractions nor could I feel any exams after that point! It was great! My progress continued to be very slow and when they checked me at 4:00pm I was only dialated to a 5. Dr. Locke said I needed to progress a centimeter per hour in order to continue on the route we were going or else we would have to do something else...meaning C-section. I was okay with this idea because I had already prepared myself that physically I may not be able to have this baby naturally. However when they came to check me at 7:00 I was dialated to a 7. Then when my nurse came to check me a little bit later I was at a 10 and she said we could begin pushing after she contacted Dr. Locke. So I pushed for about 45 minutes until her head began to crown, then my nurse, Christine went and called him and told him we were ready....once he arrived I pushed for about 5 more contractions and Miss Lillee Ann Hill arrived at 10:18pm! It was a long day but well worth the wait!!

We have slowly begun to get used to each other...however, Lillee has been a pretty fussy baby thus far and we have had some rough days and sleepless nights! We are hoping that she is only having a bit of colic and will be a much happier baby in a few weeks! Below are a few pictures of our labor and delivery!

Mid afternoon after several hours of labor...eating ice chips. I was starving and not a happy camper!!Right after delivery...I was so happy to have her but very tired!
